VIVA Canada Exhibition features the work of pastel artist, Joan Larson, who has created a series of artwork depicting her train journey across Canada. These artworks will be imbedded in a life-size VIA train image, which will stretch around the walls of the Concert Gallery. A realistic set featuring a ticket window, historic posters of train travel across the country, luggage racks, and local train memorabilia will invite the summer visitors to 'experience' a journey across Canada in situ. Known to locals as Beach Fest, this 5 ½ week long family-oriented festival runs from July 11 to August 17. Not only does it include the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition & Exhibition; the public can also learn to sculpt like a professional; enjoy weekend concerts, daily buskers on the boardwalk; a weekend Artisan Market and two evenings where the sculptures are illuminated for late night viewing.

The competition begins with “pound up” on Thursday, July 9 when the sculptors build and fill their forms. Once their forms are filled and the sculptor feels they are solidly packed, they may remove their forms and begin to carve.
Gates open to the public to watch the sculptors carving starting Friday, July 10, at 2:00pm.
Judging will take place on Sunday, July 12, from 3:00-4:30pm and the winners will be announced on-site at approximately 5:00pm.
Missed the competition? No need to worry! You can visit the exhibition from July 13 through to August 16, 2026. Gate is open from 9:30am...more info
