Buskers are a diverse cross section of Vancouver Island musicians who perform daily during the Parksville Beach Festival, at the beachfront gazebo adjacent to the sand sculpting exhibition.

Known to locals as Beach Fest, this 5 ½ week long family-oriented festival runs from July 11 to August 17. Not only does it include the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition & Exhibition; the public can also learn to sculpt like a professional; enjoy weekend concerts, daily buskers on the boardwalk; a weekend Artisan Market and two evenings where the sculptures are illuminated for late night viewing.

The competition begins with “pound up” on Thursday, July 9 when the sculptors build and fill their forms. Once their forms are filled and the sculptor feels they are solidly packed, they may remove their forms and begin to carve.
Gates open to the public to watch the sculptors carving starting Friday, July 10, at 2:00pm.
Judging will take place on Sunday, July 12, from 3:00-4:30pm and the winners will be announced on-site at approximately 5:00pm.
Missed the competition? No need to worry! You can visit the exhibition from July 13 through to August 16, 2026. Gate is open from 9:30am...more info
