Biodiversity & Conservation - Qualicum Beach
Nov 3, 2025
The Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region (MABR) Biodiversity and Conservation Education Series focuses on the significance of biological diversity in the MABR, highlights regional conservation initiatives, and offers opportunities for community engagement.

Many organizations within the MABR are active in stewardship, restoration, monitoring, and educational activities, supporting conservation of biodiversity and enhancing community connections with nature. As volunteers drive the success of these efforts, this series partners with and showcases volunteer-led initiatives and demonstrates opportunities for future participation and engagement.

Join us on Monday, November 3rd from 1:00 – 2:00 pm for the next installment of the series hosted in collaboration with Ceri Peacey from the Hamilton Wetlands and Forest Preservation Society. For nearly 20 years, community stewards have work tirelessly to promote the importance of permanently conserving Hamilton Marsh. Currently, with a conditional purchase agreement to acquire the full 360 hectares of Hamilton Marsh and surrounding forest, this vision is becoming a reality.

But the work is not done! Public contributions and community support will be essential in completing the acquisition. There is no better way to understand how meaningful Hamilton Marsh is other than being immersed in its beauty and biodiversity, so make sure to sign up for this tour!

Registration is required and capacity is limited to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis. Questions? Contact jenica.ng-cornish@viu.ca
