Ground Zero Acoustic lounge is pleased to be hosting Dave Kilbank as he releases his new CD “YOUNG & OLD”
Dave started playing 12-string guitar and writing songs as a teen with big dreams…
After college in Ottawa, he got into Radio Production, which turned into a 27-year career in
stations across Canada. He continued writing songs when he had time, and recording them
when he could afford studio time…
Then in 2006, he bought an Apple MacBook, and found the GarageBand Program, which meant
he could work on his music at home. In 3 short years, he produced 3 CD’s of original songs, and
a video for his daughter: “My Song For Kira Dawn”…
In 2009, Dave met Paul Bezooyen of The Hermits Music in Nanaimo, and began a creative
partnership of writing, recording and performing as a duo that resulted in two CD’s – “Travelers”
and “Fire On The Horizon” – plus several videos. This collaboration has grown into a group of
songwriters who contribute to each others’ projects. Dave has produced CDs for Bob Enns,
Pam Edgar, and Mary Faherty – plus he hosted The Songwriters’ Circle on CHLY Radio in
Nanaimo from 2012-2016…
Over the years, Dave has fine-tuned his production skills, along with his songwriting, and by
2019, he was ready for a new Solo CD. While recording 11 “young” songs, he realized that
many of his “old” songs still have relevance, but needed some rejuvenating. So he decided to
re-record 11 of those as well, and release the “Young & Old” together as a Double CD. There’s
a wide variety of songs – some are contemporary folk, some have a blues influence, some are
beautiful love ballads, some are lighthearted ditties, and others have important messages – all
featuring his lush 12-string guitar and strong vocals.
