Our February speaker is author and acquired brain injury survivor, Jessica Taylor, Her book FROM TRAGEDY TO TRIUMPH; JOURNEY BACK FROM THE EDGE resulted in 2 documentaries on TV and she has been a guest on TV and radio chat shows. Born in Ireland, she moved to Canada in 1967, along with her husband. She had been a nurse in the U.K. and later opened her own cosmetic business in Ontario. While on business, she fell down a steep staircase where her head hit a 12 inch steel plated door. Rendered brain injured, this was not diagnosed until years later. Her talk will be about some of her happenings throughout rehabilitation (some quite humorous), as well as her feeling regarding what needs to be done to help those with head injuries. She has written a book (now finishing a second), and is an advocate for better treatment and rehabilitation for head injury survivors, as well as petitioning to governments, media, and medical people.
