Our Living Languages: First Peoples’ Voices in BC

2019 is the UNESCO International year of Indigenous Languages. Languages are powerful and potent markers of identity and culture, yet many of us cannot even say “hello” in the language of the people on whose traditional territory we live, work and play.

You might just expand your vocabulary—and your appreciation for the Indigenous languages spoken in BC—after visiting the Qualicum Beach Museum to view the travelling exhibition “Our Living Languages: First Peoples’ Voices in BC”.

Accepting New Students: 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday, during the school year, at Arrowview Elementary School gym,Qualicum Beach. Umi Wado Kai Karate teaches the art of self-defence, while instilling a strong sense of self-discipline, self-confidence, respect and humility. Winter Wonderland On Ice

It is a holiday tradition to take part in this magical skating event at Oceanside Place Arena. Special lighting and decor makes you feel as though you are skating on an outdoor pond at night. Even if you do not skate, come by and view the lights from the deck. Wheel chairs and strollers are welcome. The public skating schedule with free skating events will be available on November 18th at rdn.bc.ca/recreation.
