Sing-along Messiah

Malaspina Choir has been delighting Nanaimo audiences with its choral performances for 50 years, and this Christmas, it celebrates the 10th anniversary of its popular Sing-along Messiah.
The numbers attending this joyous Christmas event have grown so much that we’ve moved it to a larger venue, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 301 Machleary St.
You can come join us in singing Handel’s beloved work (scores are available for purchase at the concert) or thrill to the surround sound of hundreds of voices belting out the Hallelujah Chorus.
You’ll be conducted by Malaspina Choir musical director Lionel Tanod, and accompanied by Jenny Vincent on continuo, Hugh Middleton on trumpet, and the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra.
Our wonderful soloists are Rebecca Collett, soprano, Julia Morgan, mezzo-soprano, Nolan Kehler, tenor, and Michael MacKinnon, bass.
In honour of this special anniversary, the choir will be fundraising at the performance for its 50th Anniversary legacy project, the Port Theatre’s new studio theatre.
This theatre will help provide much-needed performance and rehearsal space for music, dance, and theatre groups, as well as choirs like ours.
