Enjoy the peace and serenity of the Golden Shrine and gardens. Sit or walk in meditation or simply enjoy the atmosphere in silence, turn the prayer wheels, light a butterlamp, make a heart wish in the wishing garden. A facilitator will be present to answer questions though our general goal is to maintain silence as much as possible. The gift shop will be open.

Harold Allanson, SFCA, TWSA, holds a life-long interest in drawing and painting but was unable to fully express his talent until taking early retirement twenty years ago. Since then it's allowed him the luxury of being able to paint for several hours most days.
His realistic watercolours are representative of his life experiences and observations, often depicting working friends, people he's met, their lives and their jobs. The West Coast of BC where he lives, the ranchla...more info

'I Paint With Light Now' Digital Media Exhibition
Artist Statement: "The intellectual process of painting has not changed for me since I switched to the digital format five years ago. It remains an intuitive, somewhat baffling and always mysterious activity for me. I would not be using digital if that essential part of painting had to be sacrificed. I think it's important for you to know that I first experienced and practiced my craft as a painter for 40 years before I tried this new technology. And I...more info

Mattila + Martin: Painting & Collage Exhibition
Donna Mattila: "In his 'Notebooks', George Braque wrote 'In art there is only one thing that counts; the thing you can't explain'. This is how I think about writing about my painting; either it works or it doesn't. My imagery originates from many walks in residential areas and urban streets,"
Tony Martin: "The images in this current series mainly concern a combination of seascapes and vessels. Influences: Local environment and travel documentatio...more info

In this year of political turmoil wouldn’t it be great just to forget all that – to take a break, breathe deeply and relax? Well, a concert of Early Music would be just the antidote and who better than the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra to provide for that! This fall the NCO will perform an all-Baroque concert titled “Basically Baroque”.
