'I Paint With Light Now' Digital Media Exhibition

Artist Statement:
"The intellectual process of painting has not changed for me since I switched to the digital format five years ago. It remains an intuitive, somewhat baffling and always mysterious activity for me. I would not be using digital if that essential part of painting had to be sacrificed. I think it's important for you to know that I first experienced and practiced my craft as a painter for 40 years before I tried this new technology. And I...more info

Mattila + Martin: Painting & Collage Exhibition

Donna Mattila:
"In his 'Notebooks', George Braque wrote 'In art there is only one thing that counts; the thing you can't explain'. This is how I think about writing about my painting; either it works or it doesn't. My imagery originates from many walks in residential areas and urban streets,"

Tony Martin:
"The images in this current series mainly concern a combination of seascapes and vessels. Influences: Local environment and travel documentatio...more info

Marlys Diamond will speak about The Perfect Storm Group, which is a team of concerned stakeholders who came together in 2015 with a mission to increase capacity for primary health care in Parksville Qualicum Beach, and to recruit primary care practitioners to the area. There is also a shortage of nurse practitioners, physiotherapists and lab technicians. The Perfect Storm Group has been active...more info
