Parksville Fire Prevention Week Open House
Each year, the Parksville Fire Department recognizes Fire Prevention Week (October 6 to 12) and again this year will open its doors to the public on Sunday, October 6 from 10 am to 2 pm. The open house takes place at the fire hall located at 160 Jensen Avenue West.
The theme for this year's fire prevention week is Not every hero wears a cape. The public is encouraged to drop by for a little fun and learn possible lifesaving strategies for fire prevention. Here's a few of the activities planned:
- Live burn to showcase effectiveness of home sprinkler systems at 1.30 pm - SmartMan training doll for learning CPR - Educational displays - Hose and target - Rides on Parksville Fire trucks - Firefighter guided tours of the station, trucks and equipment so be sure to bring your camera. - RCMP will be on site with a child restraint technician to conduct inspection of car seats. Please bring your car and restraint manuals to refer to during inspection. Seat must already be installed in the vehicle. - Sign up for the new Parksville-Qualicum Beach notification system with Voyent Alert!
