Harold Allanson Exhibition

Harold Allanson, SFCA, TWSA, holds a life-long interest in drawing and painting but was unable to fully express his talent until taking early retirement twenty years ago. Since then it's allowed him the luxury of being able to paint for several hours most days.

His realistic watercolours are representative of his life experiences and observations, often depicting working friends, people he's met, their lives and their jobs. The West Coast of BC where he lives, the ranchla...more info

Mattila + Martin: Painting & Collage Exhibition

Donna Mattila:
"In his 'Notebooks', George Braque wrote 'In art there is only one thing that counts; the thing you can't explain'. This is how I think about writing about my painting; either it works or it doesn't. My imagery originates from many walks in residential areas and urban streets,"

Tony Martin:
"The images in this current series mainly concern a combination of seascapes and vessels. Influences: Local environment and travel documentatio...more info

Uniquely Hawaiian, hula is the telling of stories through dance and song. Hula helps to ease tension and stress. Many Hawaiian songs are about nature; the waves, wind, flowers, rain, mountains, etc. Visualizing and interpreting the words with movement can mentally transport you to, and connect you with nature. Hula is a mind-body-spirit experience.

Group classes for women’s hula will be held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre in the OAP Room. This is an open level class where the pace is set by the students. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Newcomers welcome!
