Amazing Race in the Parks
This program will have you racing your way through Horne Lake Regional Park. You will discover road blocks and detours that will put your team dynamics to the test. The challenges will be fun and will leave you inspired to be in the outdoors. Families, teams and individuals welcome. Sunday, October 14 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Cost is $15.

This is a fun and educational day with lots to see and speakers to hear. There will also be quite a few local vendors on-site. We are asking for a donation of $5 per person for admission (children 12 & under free).
This event is always busy … and parking is limited. Shuttle Parking will be provided by the Salvation Army for your ease and convenience from 1500 Grafton Road to NIWRA grounds. As a “thank you” for this service, your monetary contribution to the Salvation Army is appreciated (event admission is separate).

Babysitters Certification Program 11-14yrs
Become a Red Cross certified babysitter. This course introduces basic first aid, how to respond to emergency situations, explains baby and child care, offers advice on becoming a responsible babysitter, and tips for finding babysitting jobs. Cardio Dance Club
We are excited to offer this FUN fitness class again starting in October. Cardio Dance Club is a follow-along dance fitness class. It is open to all skill and fitness levels. So get your groove on and follow along as our instructor, Jen deHaan, guides you through a series of choreographed dance moves. Each class will feature a mix of modern radio hits and old-school classics. Jen's enthusiasm will encourage you to get your heart rate up and your feet moving.

Fire Prevention Week Open House
Each year, the Parksville Fire Department recognizes Fire Prevention Week (October 7 to 13) and again this year will open its doors to the public on Sunday, October 14 from 10 am to 2 pm. The open house takes place at the fire hall located at 160 Jensen Avenue West.
The public is encouraged to drop by for a little fun and to learn some possible lifesaving strategies for fire prevention. There will be firefighter guided tours of the station, including trucks and equipment so be sure to bring your camera.

Music On Sunday - Soprano Anne Grimm and Bruce Vogt, piano
A native of the Netherlands and current University of Victoria Voice Faculty member, Ms. Grimm is known for her “expressive technique” and “dramatic presence” and has performed throughout Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand in concert, opera and recital. She is joined today by UVic Piano faculty member and internationally acclaimed pianist Mr. Vogt in what is certain to be a delightfully diverse and engaging afternoon of song.
