Expedition Without Using Single-Use Plastics

“From the moment we dipped our paddles into the icy waters of Glacier Bay, Alaska, we were challenged, awed and inspired. The expedition was everything we wanted, and more than we bargained for.”
In the summer of this year, Australian duo Mathilde Gordon and Lucy Graham completed a 3 month kayak adventure from Juneau, Alaska to Victoria on Vancouver Island, to raise awareness about plastics in our oceans. They did it without using single-use-plastic (no ziplock bags!) and raised over $20,000 for two marine conservation organisations.
Mathilde will be talking about the challenges and highlights of the journey, and discussing how to complete expeditions in a way that doesn’t impact our oceans.
She has been living single-use plastic-free with her partner Dan for over 2 years now and they will also be discussing ways on how to reduce plastics in our daily lives.
