About the presenter: Graham Riches, is emeritus professor of social work at the University of British Columbia.

His research lies in the fields of poverty, human rights and social policy principally within Canada and the rich world focusing on the politics of hunger (food insecurity), corporate charity (food banking) and the right to food. His publications include Food Banks and the Welfare Crisis (CCSD,1986); Unemployment and Welfare: Social Policy and the Work of Social Work co-edited with Gordon Ternowetsky (Garamond, 1990); First World Hunger: Food Security and Welfare Politics, ed (Macmillan,1997); Right to Food Case Study: Canada co-authored with D. Buckingham, A. Ostry, R. MacRae (UN FAO, 2004); First World Hunger Revisited: Food Charity or the Right to Food - co-edited with Tiina Silvasti (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014); and Food Bank Nations. Poverty, Corporate Charity and the Right to Food (Routledge, 2018).
