CFI 2nd Annual Apple Pressing
Coombs Farmers' Institute is proud to host the 2nd Annual Apple Pressing Day!
Bring your friends and family for a day of apple pressing fun:
- Live apple pressing from Pressing Matter Mobile Juicer - Taste over 80 varieties of apples from Denman Island Heritage Apples - Games and art projects for children (apple related, of course!) - Pick up a heritage apple tree to plant in your backyard - Enjoy lunch from a local food truck
If you'd like to have your apples pressed, please note:
- Apples must be dropped off no later than 12:00 pm - No booking is required, but it is on a first-come, first-serve basis - 100 lb minimum of apples per pressing; get together with your friends and neighbours to share the juice! - Apples can be mixed variety, and pears can also be juiced. It will take about 3.5 lb of apples to get 1 L of juice.
$8.50 per 5-L 'bag in a box' pasteurized juice $1 per L of raw juice - bring your own 5-gal food grade bucket
If you have an apple tree you cannot pick yourself, or if you want to participate but don't have apples, please feel free to post comments here to get connected.
Do you want to make your raw apple juice into cider? The Winery in Coombs will be on site — they make wine, cider, port and even sparkling non-alcoholic juice out of any kind of fruit imaginable, including combinations. They also sell all the supplies that a “home brewer” requires and offer a 10% discount to all CFI Members.
