Help Nanaimo make this the greatest Toy Drive we have had to date. Starting Nov. 16-Dec 16 you are encouraged to donate an unwrapped toy(s), gifts, books and stuffed animals for children 0-16. Gifts for our teenagers are always in need. Items can be left at the different drop off sites around town including Nanaimo Shopping Centres, Nanaimo Firehalls, Coastal Community Credit Unions, Nanaimo Museum, Wolf/Wave Radio Station to name a few. The Old City Quarter is hosting the annual Light up a Life from Nov. 27-Dec. 21. Our kickoff event is on Nov. 27 where trees will be lit, treats and warm drinks by donation with holiday music to sing along to. Bring a shoebox to decorate and/or goods to put in it. For those of you who bring items to contribute there will be a chance to win an Old City Quarter gift basket.

The NCS elves are beginning to dust the Christmas trees off, pull gifts, wrapping paper, and decorations out of storage and get ready for our 2017 Elf Program.
Trees, with Santa hat tags attached, will be on display starting November 15th in about ten locations dotted throughout the region. Each “elf hat” tag will indicate a special gift (“pajamas for a 9 yr old boy”, “$25 i-Tunes gift card”, Petro-Canada gas card, etc.) or a request for a cash donation. Tom has been a musician for 35 years and plays many instruments but guitar and singing are his passion. He carries on the tradition of his mother bringing East Coast music all across North America. Tom now lives on vancouver island BC. The Tom Morrissey Band recorded their debut cd. “Island Man” – a blend of rock with East Coast music. Tom wrote 6 of the 10 tracks the CD and displays a fun rockin’ sense of humor with an East Coast flair. And a live CD of covers was also recorded in 2009.
